This month I had the honor of photographing a Beauty Portrait Session with Eleni Tzimas as the model and Suzanne Katz as the Hair and Make up Artist otherwise know as HMUA. Eleni is a professional model who has been in the industry for decades. Suzanne has been a HMUA for decades and same for me with professional photography. Once in a while one of the three reaches out to the other to do a TFP. In the industry TFP means Trade-For-Print and that means that all of the people involved with the session do not exchange money. All trades are involved contribute creatively to have fun, be creative, portfolio build or just shoot to keep relevant. Together we decide on the concept and purpose for the images. Whatever the reason for participation, no one pays for anything unless they want to and every one gets the images for self promotion. I like to shoot Eleni because her smile is amazing and she knows how to pose. I also wanted to meet a local HMUA. Hopefully my images are good enough for the other two contributors to add to their portfolios to get them more work. As long as there is mutual benefit then TFP works for everyone and is a good thing for photographers with all levels of experience to participate in on occasion.
